About the Item

This truly magnificent vintage 1940's silk satin embroidered kimono, in a vibrant shade of Royal blue, is the perfect piece for your loungewear collection. The classic kimono cut is framed by a V shaped neckline and an edge to edge cut. The slopping shoulder line is accented by the rectangular cut sleeves with arm openings along the top, embellished with a gold thread soutache cloud. The front panels of the kimono are embellished with three gold thread soutache clouds along each side. The back of the robe features extensive and intricate embroidery and soutache embroidery in silk and metal covered threads. The imagery depicts a dragon in a sun and cloud filled sky, above pagoda shaped buildings and decorative foliage. Lined in cream floral silk brocade . Label: None Measurements of the Kimono Kimono Sleeve Width: 12 inches Kimono Sleeve Length: 16.5 inches Armpit to Armpit: 48 inches Shoulder to Hem: 52 inches Hips: 48 Inches Size: UK 10-14 US 6-10 Closures: None Condition: This vintage kimono is in good but not perfect vintage condition. An age mark along the front right hand side of the bodice, between the two clouds. A very small hole to the silk along the front right hand side near the V shaped neckline. A small and light age mark along the front right hand side lapel, near the base edge. A small scattering of age marks along the front right hand side hemline. Three very small age marks along the front of the right hand side sleeve. Very light colour variation along the edges of the right hand side lapel. An age mark along the left hand side front of the kimono near the base of the lapel. Two small pin holes along the left hand side , side seam. Age marks along the front left hand side hemline. Gentle wear to the silk along the top of the left hand side shoulder. An age mark along the centre back of the kimono. A small pin hole along the centre back hemline. An area of colour variation along the back right hand side of the kimono above the hemline. Very gentle colour variation and light scattering of age marks along the backs of the sleeves. Light wear and gentle age marks to the silk brocade lining. These minor issues, although appear to be a lot, are actually only apparent upon closer inspection. They are well concealed within the drape and lustre of the silk. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the product description.
