About the Item

A museum-quality piece of extreme rarity, this turn-of-the-century walking suit is exceptional for its extraordinary workmanship, condition, atypical silhouette and unheard-of large size. As sturdy and stunning now as it was over a century ago. Off white Irish crochet walking suit. Jacket features crochet middy collar with scalloped back; heavily embroidered cotton front and rear panels inset with nine crochet gores for sweeping silhouette. Modified crochet lantern sleeves with narrow Irish crochet lace wrist; four frog button closures with knotted tassels. Scalloped bottom edge; unlined.
