Men’s Navy Porolastic Olympia Wool Brief Zip Swim Trunk, Germany – M-L, 1930s

About the Item

Ultra-rare, these 1930s men’s swim trunks were made by Porolastic, the German brand favored by Olympic record holders thanks to their sleek design. They enraged competitors for their brevity and immodesty when wet, though their success in the water prompted competitor Speedo to introduce a similar product the following year. Men’s wool swim briefs with 1” striped multicolor elastic waistband and white piping at both hips. Zippered pocket with signature metal pull at right hip, and embroidered Porolastic logo at left hip. Gusseted crotch lined in gray cotton jersey; briefs unlined. fabric: wool, cotton jersey, elastic noteworthy: may be gently hand or machine washed in cool water; lay flat to dry alterations: discretely repaired small (5 mm or smaller) holes at waist and seat; restitched original elastic to waist condition: very good with above repairs and slight wear to crotch lining measurements*: waist: 32” unstretched – 38” fully stretched hips: 36” unstretched – 42” fully stretched rise: 12 ½” from top waistband to center crotch leg openings: 22” unstretched – 26” fully stretched length: 7 ½” from top waistband to hip zipper: 3 ½” label: Porolastic size: German size 7/9; comparable to modern size medium - large *please note measurements were taken dry; garment will stretch when wet
