About the Item

This is an old Japanese toy car, heavily rusted with age. Its form appears to resemble that of a Porsche, and it is believed to have been manufactured in the post‑war Showa period (1960s–1980s). Made of tinplate, it still retains traces of its original shape, yet its entire surface has been enveloped by rust over the decades. One can only imagine the harsh conditions it endured to arrive at its present state—likely left outdoors for many years, exposed to wind, rain, humidity, and the unrelenting passage of time. Through oxidation, the metal surface gradually weathered and transformed. Yet it was never discarded, surviving against the odds to remain with us today. The texture of the tin, combined with the deep corrosion of the rust, creates a presence that transcends its origins as a toy, elevating it into an art piece in its own right. The rust is thick across the entire surface, and small flakes may come loose if the piece is handled or impacted. While it will be packed with the utmost care, please understand that some rust shedding may occur upon unpacking. This is a natural characteristic of aged metal objects. Even in its weathered and decayed state, it retains an undeniable charm that embodies the Japanese spirit of wabi‑sabi. This is beauty not found in perfection or newness, but in the quiet elegance of transformation and imperfection brought by time. A one‑of‑a‑kind piece for those who appreciate the beauty of objects shaped by history. As an interior accent or display piece, it will bring depth and a story to any space. Weight: 200g _____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.

Rare 911 Porsche Friction Tin Toy by Bandai Toy Co. Made in Japan Circa 1960's
Located in Incline Village, NV
Offered here is a whitish/cream colored friction tin toy 911 Porsche circa 1960's, marked at the bottom; "Porsche" in addition to the Bandai Toy Company logo embossed, along with "Made in Japan" designation being noted. The Bandai Toy Company is a post war toy company established in Taito, Japan circa 1950 and is still conducting business today, albeit, it has shifted from toy manufacturing to video toy accessories. This is a very rare toy and is coveted by collectors of both toys and fast cars. Except for the odd and minor scratch here and there, the toy is in very nice, all original condition with absolutely no restoration or touch up to the paint or mechanism (see images). The action and friction functionality works well (see video). Motor and engine mechanics and nomenclature are colorfully displayed through the plastic rear trunk window (see image); while the colorful interior can be seen through the side window. Car is all tin, with rubber tires and plastic windows. Dimensions: 10 1/4" long x 4" wide x 3 1/4" high. Priced competitively; note that this toy doesn't become available very often and the few that have turned up in recent years , don't work and are several hundred dollars more than mine. Note: After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys; important considering fakes and reproductions in the marketplace it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin...
