Wooden Wedding Bride Doli Palanquin

About the Item

This 1900's Gujarati doli, an enclosed palanquin, was traditionally used to transport brides from their home to the groom's residence, symbolizing the bride's ceremonial entrance into her new marital home. Crafted to resemble a chhatri dome, it evokes the grandeur of Mughal palace pavilions. The doli is vibrantly painted in blue, yellow, red, and white, adorned with intricate motifs of marigold, champa flowers, and fire, symbolizing love, elegance, and purity. Lion carvings at the arm handles symbolize protection, adding a regal touch. This beautifully crafted doli is a perfect expression of Indian cultural heritage and artistry.
