A 19th century Chinese export chinoiserie decorated papier mache wall pocket.

About the Item

This delightful piece is in remarkably good condition. It is designed to hang on a wall to contain paper or stationary. It is made from papier mache finished with black lacquer and is beautifully hand painted in gold with a delicate chinoiserie scene of terraced pagoda buildings amongst trees and foliage with figures dressed in traditional costume in the foreground.
