About the Item
Japanese horse festival black lacquer medallion with tassels with bells, Edo period.
When horses participate in festivals they are adorned with horse trappings and other decorations. This is one of them, hangs around the neck and as they walk the bells make a sound. The kanji reads "Kin". The tassels are strips of cotton and the bells are bronze, most of them missing.
