A Beautiful Kanshitsu Bachi Lacquer Mixing Bowl.
This beautiful Kanshitsu Bachi lacquer mixing bowl is a stunning example of Japanese craftsmanship. It is dated to the Showa period, 20th century, and is in good condition with some minor abrasions due to its age.
The bowl is made of lacquer and decorated in the Kanshitsu Bachi technique, a traditional Japanese lacquer technique that involves applying multiple layers of lacquer to a core made of hemp or other fibrous material, giving it a smooth, glossy finish. Kanshitsu Bachi bowls are often used for mixing tea or other beverages.
The bowl measures 29 cm (11.4 inches) in diameter and 16 cm (6.3 inches) in height. It weighs 1.5 kg (3.3 lb).
