A broad-rimmed round presentation tray, kalat, of red lacquer, with hand carved upright spindle accents, elevating the tray from its base. Used to carry votive gifts to the monastery, (and also to present copies of scriptures to the monks). It is an excellent example, the results of having been in service for well over a century.
