About the Item

A wonderful, quite special and unique Thai (Thailand) Buddhist sacred amulet/charm necklace featuring 32 silver and gold toned amulets/charms plus one main larger key shaped center piece, each with images of venerated monks, Buddha or holy places - likely all blessed at some point by various monks for good luck and protection. It is a very substantial and hefty piece. We believe some if not many of the metal amulets date back to the early to mid 1900s but they could older. The necklace was probably constructed at a later date by the original owner as the chain looks newer. We have not seen another quite like it. Would be a great addition to any Thai/Asian or Buddhist religious art/artifacts collection or make for an eye catching, excellent accent piece once framed in about any setting. Japanese Edo Temple Shrine Buddhist Monk Juzu Prayer Beads Mala Rosary Necklace
Located in Studio City, CA
A very special antique collection - this long strand of Japanese hand-crafted natural wooden (perhaps Rosewood) Buddhist Juzu mala beads with customary larger "Guru" beads. These rosary-type prayer bead necklaces were often used by Buddhist monks in temple rituals and worn by Samurai as amulets of protection. This particular piece features a wonderful, naturally organic patina acquired over years of handling and use. Likely originates from the late Edo period (1603-1868) or early Mejia Period (1868-1912). This juzu bead...
