Chinese Floral Incised Brass Brazier, c. 1850

About the Item

This 19th century handcrafted bronze hand warmer would have been owned by a woman of means and filled with coals so she could warm her hands on cold winter nights. The top is beautifully pierced with a flowering bud design. Surrounding the flowers is an intricate series of honeycombed incisions, framed with circular bands. A close look reveals detailed scarification marks, making this a fine example to begin or add to a collection.
