Japanese Silver Wire Cloisonné Koro with a Bird , butterflies and Floral Design
Meiji Period (1868-1912)
A beautifully executed Meiji-period Japanese cloisonné koro, featuring a rounded form and domed lid, worked in the traditional silver wire technique. Set against a soft celadon green enamel ground, the body is finely decorated with a naturalistic scene of a bird perched on a blossoming plum branch-an enduring motif symbolizing perseverance and renewal.
Opposite, two swallows glide in mid-flight above delicate wildflowers, rendered in rich enamel tones with remarkable detail.
The lid is topped with a cast bronze chrysanthemum finial and is further embellished with butterflies in flight, echoing the seasonal theme. The precise silver wirework defines each feather, petal, and branch with elegant clarity, exemplifying the superior craftsmanship of the cloisonné artisans of the Meiji era.
Condition: Very good condition , with minimal signs of wear; enamel surfaces remain vibrant and intact. A few minor flaws next to the mouth. Refer to photos.
