Print size: 225 x 330 mm Sheet size: 270 x 390 mm "Tsuki Hyakushi Masterpiece Collection “『月百姿傑作撰集』 is a compilation of selected masterpieces from ”Tsuki Hyakushi"『月百姿』 a masterpiece by ukiyoe artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. "Tsuki Hyakushi“ 『月百姿』 is a series of 100 woodblock prints produced in the Meiji era (1868-1912), depicting historical figures, legends, and scenes from stories with ”moon" as the theme. Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Benkei, Abe no Seimei, Fujiwara no Michinaga, and others appear in the series. Each story is dramatically expressed with fantastic moonlight. "Tsuki Hyakushi Masterpiece Collection “『月百姿傑作撰集』 is a book in which visitors can enjoy selected works from "Tsuki Hyakushi“ 『月百姿』. This collection is a must-have for Ukiyo-e fans, filled with beautiful compositions and fantastic views of the world that only Yoshitoshi could have created. It was reprinted and sold in the Showa period in a set of 15 prints. This is one of them, “Tsukiyo Kama 月夜釜”. Under the moon, 　The proverb “the kettle is pulled out on a moonlit night” means that the kettle is stolen in spite of the moonlight, meaning that one fails to be on one's guard. On the back, there are the names of the engraver and the printer, and a patent seal. Although this is a reprint, it is a beautiful reproduction of a faithful woodblock print by Yoshitoshi.
