About the Item
A beautifully composed Japanese woodblock print by American born artist Joshua Rome titled "Tsukiyo" or Moonlit Night.
The limited edition print is hand signed in pencil, sealed in red ink, titled, dated (1/10/82) and numbered (61/100) by the artist in the lower right margin.
At the age of twenty-one, Rome moved to Japan with the hopes of studying Japanese cabinetry. Soon after meeting Clifton Karhu, another fellow American artist living in Japan, Rome become Karhu's apprentice. He studied with Karhu for three years and then continued his woodblock print making studies at the home of Kuroda Kenkichi, the son of Kuroda Tatsuaki, a Japanese national treasure of lacquer and cabinetry. He eventually moved back to the States with his family in 1998.
