About the Item

Such stones for appreciation are collectively called "suiseki". Suiseki means "water" and "stone". The name comes from the fact that I enjoyed pouring water on the stones and changing the color of the stones. And this item is also Suiseki, but it is for viewing without splashing water. This is a stone mined in Japan. Not only in China but also in Japan from ancient times, rocks in the mountains have been shaved and stones for viewing have been quarried. It is a very beautifully balanced stone. You will get the illusion that you are looking at a big mountain. It is likely a member of the "Furuya stone" family, which is quarried in Wakayama Prefecture and other areas. The stone is a dark gray color, often with occasional whitish streaks, but these are subtle and the stone's surface is finely uneven, giving it a rich expression. The type of rock is limestone, which is quite hard. When searching for stones, the work involves excavating the stones buried in the mountain soil, but basically there is hardened soil attached to them, and the work involves scraping it off and polishing it to some extent. However, in order to utilize the natural stone as it is, no carvings or other treatments are applied to it. Both the front and back have a beautiful mountain shape. It gives the feeling of gazing at a mountain range, as if it were expressing the edge of a sheer cliff. It's very balanced. condition is good. The pedestal is made of hard wood. It is a beautifully carved pedestal. Small but beautiful stones like this are hard to find. It's a very cool stone. Recommended item! Also, I want many people to know the goodness of Japanese old things, so I set the price at a reasonable price. Weight: 1.9kg. Date of base creation: 1900s
