About the Item

This Ikat textile originates from the Island of Timor, Indonesia. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed yarns via a method passed on through generations. The dark blue foreground brings to life the array of coloured detailing and distinct tribal patterns. This textile is tubular for ease to be worn as a waist skirt (sarong) by the tribes people of the island. As highlighted in the images, there are some stains to the textile. There is also a roughly 3cm tear on one of edges. Dimensions: Length 127cm x width 60cm.
