Japanese Doll Set With Screen And Other Pieces
About the Item
A set of mid 20th century Japanese Sato Hakata Urasaki genuine clay dolls, hand woven textile, screen and othe pieces. The dolls are adorned with hand crafted and hand painted traditional costumes. The set includes Geisha and male sitting figurines. The screen features a gilt base with foliage decor on borders. A Hakata doll is a traditional Japanese clay doll, originally from the city of Fukuoka. The Hakata doll gained fame when American soldiers took them back to the US as souvenirs during the American occupation of Japan following the Second World War. Japan started exporting Hakata dolls soon afterwards. At the same time, the Hakata doll became well known domestically. Antique and Vintage Asian and Oriental Traditional Hakata Dolls For Collectors.

Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Torn paper and dents on the screen. Loose heir on some dolls. Refer to photos.
