What a door! Manufactured by Mather & Platt Ltd of Manchester, England. The doors stands at over 7ft high and nearly 5ft wide, the steel patchwork is all intact and the door is finished in its original red paint with a wonderful aged patina. In the country side of 19th century Hungary, wealthy farmers had agricultural fields outside the villages but also had a large house in town. These houses often represented the wealth of the family. Their "house in town" would have a granary next to it as they needed to carry agricultural goods by large wagons from the countryside into the village.
