Elegant Brass & Steel Serpentine Fire Grate by Longden

About the Item

An elegant brass & steel serpentine fire grate by Longden. The railed basket supported by tapered uprights on arched plinthed feet. The ornate frieze consisting of engraved urns and palmettes set over beaded moulding. Intricate engraving to wings and urn finials. Maker’s stamp underside of top front fire bar. Minor loss to fret. Restored. Height of burning area: 13" Circa 1850.
