About the Item

An imposing Regency sarcophagus fire grate with a polished wrought bow-front, comprising of obelisk log stops, swept semi-circular hob fronts with conforming fret, turned centre bar and ball detail. Cast-iron structure adorned with brass paw-feet, lion-head and acanthus decoration below a Rococo fire back. Minor losses to hob front. Restored. Circa 1820
