Large and Stately Antique Cast Iron Baroque Style Fireplace Grate, circa 1840

About the Item

A very large and rare heavy cast iron Baroque style fire basket with Greek influences, the square backplate topped with scrolled anthemion motifs, acanthus decoration on the shoulders of the wide and deep grate. The pair of large baluster style andirons stand proud of the basket flanking an unusual cast brass skirt with further anthemion decoration. English, mid-19th century. (Prices + vat in EU zone).
