Antique Italian Verona Marble Renaissance Style Well Head

About the Item

An impressive antique Italian Verona marble well head in 16th century renaissance style. Designed and carved to create such a monumental capital, has a mottled cream and rouge pink stone finished with a charming desirable well weathered finish only gained through the elements over time. This hollow well head is complimented by the wrought iron arched overthrow that would have once had a wooly or wheel attached to it to gather water. In today's times, it has an impactful and impressive scale for any garden, certain not to get lost but act as a striking centrepiece. The revival of the 16th century renaissance style in the late 19th to early 20th century in Britain led to a great demand for pieces such as this, to create the quaint yet charming English gardens came to be known for. A well head of this design and stature would have a been a true prize piece of its time. Additional information The overall height is the marble well and overthrow combined. The height of the marble well is 80.5cm (31.69in).
