About the Item
A scarce and finely made French art deco porcelain lidded bonbonnerie formed as a flapper girl dating from around 1930. The bonbonnerie is of round shape standing on an unglazed foot and has a domed cover with the handle to the cover formed as the body of the flapper girl with the lower container forming the skirt. The bonbonnerie is hand painted with large stylized floral designs in colors against a terracotta red glazed ground with the figural finial formed as a girl wearing fur and an unusual typically period hat with ear like flaps. She is painted in black and yellow with naturalistic facial features. The bonbonnerie has printed HD BOULOGNE SUR MER marks along with further painted marks.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
