Fred Cooke for Minton Art Deco Pierrette Porcelain Figurine

About the Item

A rare Minton Art Deco porcelain figurine titled Pierette designed by Fred Cooke and dating from around 1930. This delightful standing figurine stands mounted on a narrow round pedestal base and is dressed in a clown like costume with large frilled cuffs around her ankles, wrists and neck. She has pompoms attached to the lower legs, arms and front of her costume which has been painted in black and white and customary for such figures. She wears a period art deco hat with a large frilled bow and has detailed facial features which have also been naturalistically painted. The base has a silvered finish and and has printed puce Minton marks and marked “PIERRETTE” and MODELLED BY FRED COOKE around the foot rim. Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market. In good condition with rubbing to the silvered base.
