About the Item
The image displays a Mason's Ironstone plate in the "Oriental Pheasant" pattern, likely dating to the early 19th century, around 1820.
Maker and Pattern:
This plate was produced by Mason's Ironstone, a renowned English pottery manufacturer, and features their distinctive and vividly colored "Oriental Pheasant" chinoiserie pattern.
Dating:
The "Patent Ironstone China" mark with the Mason's crown, typically found on the base, helps date the piece to approximately 1820, as Mason's ironstone production began in 1813.
Material and Decoration:
Mason's Ironstone is a durable type of stoneware pottery, known for its "iron" strength. The "Oriental Pheasant" pattern would have been transfer printed and then hand-painted with bold enamels.
Collectibility and Value:
Mason's Ironstone, especially older and rarer pieces like this one, is highly sought after by collectors. The value of such pieces depends on factors like style, type, age, and condition
