ating from the 1970s. This hand-thrown piece is adorned with delicate blue floral motifs and soft green foliage, all set against a warm, off-white glaze. The loosely painted decoration—signature to Thiry's work—has a lyrical, almost watercolor-like quality that captures the lightness of spring blooms. The classic contours and gentle rim reveal the artist's sensitivity to both form and function. Though decorative in nature, the bowl retains the rustic honesty of Thiry’s Provençal roots, with subtle irregularities and tactile brushwork that invite closer inspection. Integrated pierced holes on the reverse allow for easy wall mounting, making it equally at home on a tabletop or as part of a wall display. Signed: 'Thiry' on the raw underside. About the Artist: Albert Thiry (1932-2009) was born in Nice, France. His family moved to Vallauris where he spent most of the school holidays in the potteries; in 1956 he was taken on as an assistant decorator with an opportunity to make his own pieces. Albert and his wife, Pyot, set up their own pottery in 1961. Their standard production, in Vallauris clay with added grog to emphasise rusticity, resulted in delightful pieces both highly elaborate and utilitarian.
