About the Item
This antique English porcelain dish features the hand-painted Rock and Tree pattern, which is also known as the Money Tree pattern.
It is a gorgeous, wildly colorful pattern made in England by Coalport circa 1820.
The central scene depicts flowering trees and rockwork, framed by an asymmetrical border filled with alternating panels of stylized flowers, scrolling foliage, and geometric motifs.
The vibrant color palette and dramatic composition reflect an English interpretation of the Imari style, drawing inspiration from 18th-century Japanese porcelain while incorporating 19th-century English tastes.
The gently lobed shape and gilt-edged rim add a touch of refinement, making this dish a standout item.

Background of Coalport Porcelain: The Coalport Porcelain factory was established by John Rose in 1795.
Rose had previously trained at the Caughley Porcelain manufactory in Shropshire and began producing his own pottery nearby at Jackfield around 1780.
His rapid success allowed him to acquire the Caughley Porcelain factory in 1799, which then became the main factory for Coalport Porcelain.
John Rose hired the talented William Billingsley as a chief painter and Billingsley's chemist, Walker, who brought technical recipes from the Nantgarw factory to Coalport.
