Japanese Green Yellow Purple Porcelain Charger by Master Artist, 2
About the Item
Exquisite Japanese contemporary porcelain charger in an elegant rectangular shape, one of the artist's signature masterpieces depicting Chinese zodiac animals. The charger works as a perfect canvas to showcase the artist’s depiction of 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. These 12 animals, each coming around every 12 years are: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The artist has drawn on various animals featured in Buddhist scriptures and religious practice to make his lifework the re-creation of a “Buddhist menagerie.”
Having started his career in the venerable tradition of old Kutani porcelain, the artist faithfully draws on at least one of the prime Kutani colors of yellow, green, red, blue and purple in each of his work. In this work he has used all the Kutani traditional colors. The artist's profile is available upon request.
As is shown in the last image a framed porcelain panel in the same signature zodiac animal pattern by the same artist is also available.
This unique hand-painted porcelain charger comes in a custom-made wooden case signed by the artist.
