About the Item
This Art Deco sterling silver rectangular dresser box was made by the Parisian atelier of jeweler and silversmith Gustave Keller Frères. The dresser box features simple, elegant lines with no ornamentation and has not been personalized. The lid lifts off to reveal a gilt-washed interior storage area.
The dresser box is in very good condition with no removals or repairs. The lid fits snugly on the base. As an antique, the piece shows signs of age including light scratches, very small dimple-sized dents, and traces of tarnish noted for accuracy. The box measures 4.75" by 2.25" and stands 1.5" tall. The underside bears the Gustave Keller lozenge-shaped "G.K." maker's mark along with "G. KELLER PARIS". The side of the lid and lip of the base both carry French Minerva head fineness marks with the numeral 1 designating 950 sterling silver. The piece weighs 223.5 grams.
This classic Art Deco sterling silver dresser box would be a wonderful addition to a Gustave Keller Frères collection or a grouping of fine silver by other notable makers. The practical piece works equally well showcased on its own. A timeless find!
