About the Item

France, a wonderful hand-painted and glazed paris ROBJ porcelain candy dish/dresser box "Bonbonniere" in the form of an elegant Art Deco woman, two sections. Measurements: 8" H x 4.5" D. 1920-1930. Fine quality. Provenance: private Parisian collection. History Robj was active in Paris in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He actively encouraged Art Deco and Cubist designers and provided a showcase for their works. Robj sponsored an annual competition between 1927 and 1931 as a means of finding new designers. Robj pieces were made under commission by various suppliers - but he can be considered important in the promotion of Art Deco in ceramics in the period that it came of age. Schneible Fine Arts has been dealing in authentic European, Chinese,Japanese, and antiquities and fine art, garden ornaments, lanterns and water basins for twenty five years. Mr. Schneible personally travels to China, Japan and Europe each year to meet his network partners who assist him in finding best examples. He personally inspects each antique work of art to ensure its old age, authenticity, and quality condition. After accumulating a group, they are imported to Vermont and Maine in large containers.
