About the Item

This rare and exceptional Royal Delft Blue bonbonnière, produced by De Porceleyne Fles to commemorate the factory’s 300th anniversary (1653-1953), is a highly sought-after collector’s item. Marked with the special inscription 1653-1953 on the base, this hand-painted piece showcases Royal Delft’s exquisite craftsmanship, known worldwide for its vibrant blue-and-white ceramics. With its intricate floral design and versatile use—as a bonbonnière, jewelry box, or vide-poche—this piece is not only functional but also a beautiful decorative accent. The bonbonnière bears the signature JT for Joost Thooft, the 19th-century revitalizer of De Porceleyne Fles, as well as the painter’s initials JR, affirming its authenticity. As the oldest remaining Delftware factory, Royal Delft continues to be celebrated for its hand-crafted ceramics, and this bonbonnière is a prime example of their artistry. Its commemorative status and excellent condition make it a rare and historically significant find. In excellent condition, this bonbonnière has no chips or cracks, with only light age-related craquelé in some areas, adding to its antique charm. A slight discoloration inside the box is consistent with age but does not detract from its beauty or value.
