About the Item
Mark Cross velvet covered jewelry box with walnut frame with Renaissance style gadrooning. With a rare and wonderful psychedelic design, this mid 20th century box is quite the collectors piece. Yes it has seen better days, with the colors worn and faded, The protected areas reveal the original vibrancy of the colorful 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' esthetic. The fabric is signed 'Paola Danil...' I can't make it out, I'm sure someone out there knows who it is.
The interior lined with camel colored felt, the bottom of the tray and box covered in water silk. Original working key. Stamped on the bottom Mark Cross, Italy.
I love the walnut molding, a marriage of Renaissance Tuscan with the truly modern.
