An exceptionally fine quality example of a Lady’s or Gentleman’s English Regency Period polished brass mounted well figured Rosewood inlaid Boulle Style Jewellery or Sewing Casket or Table Box made during the first quarter of the Nineteenth Century, of English origin. Raised on its original bun feet, the quality of this item is firmly attributed to furniture makers Gillows of Lancaster. The rectangular form with hinged lid opening to reveal its original yellow silk lined interior, complete with lift out sectional tray. This exquisite casket is raised on four generous beaded bun supports. Condition: Good condition with nice patination, no losses to brass inlays. Lock is present and working, lacking key. A superb example of an early English tea poy of compact proportions. First quarter of the 19th century, Regency period. The rectangular hinged lockable lid with corner canted angles, enclosing four lidded compartments, above an exquisitely hand carved foliate and leaf capped column with shaped platform base ending on finely carved claw feet. Condition: Superb condition with no losses to inlays, interior foil linings are quite worn, very nice untouched surface patination.
