English 19th Century Partridgewood Tea Caddy with Sailing Ship Inlay



English Early 19th century partridgewood single tea caddy with three masted, square rigged ship inlaid to the lid. The ship is inlaid in shaded boxwood within a partridgewood diamond cartouche with satinwood diamonds in each corner and geometric inlays in satinwood and rosewood surrounding the cartouche, all enclosed by stringing and banding. The interior lid has satinwood stringing to the edges. The paper lining is hand made, but not original. There are remnants of the original foil lining in the tea storage area. Complete with working key. This caddy is In superb condition. Circa 1830.
