Pair of Tall Empire Ormolu & Bronze Candelabras Attributed to Gerard Jean Galle
By Gérard-Jean Galle
Located in GRENOBLE, FR
A fine pair of tall ormolu (mercury gilt bronze) and patinated bronze candelabras, French Restauration production, early 19th century work circa 1815 - 1820. Spectacular 4-lights model held by winged putti standing on a finely chiseled column-shaped base. This pattern is a variant of the candelabras Claude Galle delivered to the Grand Trianon in 1809. This theme used to be very successful in early 19th century and were the subject of a number of imperial orders to Claude Galle, Thomire and Ravrio. Our candelabras were manufactured circa 1815 - 1820 : we attribute them to Gerard Jean Galle...

Pair of Empire Six-Light Candelabra Attributed to Escalier De Cristal circa 1819
By L'Escalier de Cristal
Located in Brighton, West Sussex
A remarkable and highly important pair of Empire gilt-bronze and cut-crystal six-light candelabra attributed to Escalier De Cristal De Paris. French, circa 1819. This exceptional pair of candelabra can almost certainly be attributed to the workshops of l'Escalier de Cristal de Paris. They relate in particular to a dressing table and chair, now in the collection of the Louvre, which formed part of a toilette suite that was exhibited by L'Escalier de Cristal at the 1819 Paris exhibition of the Produits de l'industrie. The present candelabra may very likely have been made as part of this suite.

20th Century Silver Italian Candelabra Hercules & Hidra on wood base
Located in VALENZA, IT
Silver 800 candelabra. The nine-light candelabra represents Hercules to fight the Hydra. Completely handmade in casting and chisel. By ARGENTERIE DI MILANO - Fiorentini - Milan - Italy Wooden base 17,800 grams of 800 silver This item was exhibited in Turin - Reggia di Venaria - for the exhibition "Hercules and his myth" Rooms of the Arts, The Lernaean Hydra or Hydra of Lerna (Greek: Lernaîa Hýdra), more often known simply as the Hydra, was a serpentine water monster in Greek and Roman mythology. Its lair was the lake of Lerna in the Argolid, which was also the site of the myth of the Danaids. Lerna was reputed to be an entrance to the Underworld[1] and archaeology has established it as a sacred site older than Mycenaean Argos. In the canonical Hydra myth, the monster is killed by Heracles, more often known as Hercules, using...
