About the Item

A large pair of late 18th Century Russian Torchieres with exquisite water gilding, an intricate impressively carved detail. The circular top slife leaf detail around trumpet shaped fluted moulding. Sits on a decoratively carved collar of acanthus leaves with scrolled shaped tips . The underside of the rim presents four floral wreaths with laurel leaves and ribbons . The top originally would have had a circular marble plate. The main shaft has a tapering fluted column and finally carved stylised leaf collar below a more ornately carved acanthus leafed collar repeated in larger scale. The foliate carved trumpet base on a plinth of vitruvian scrolls raised on bun feet .
