About the Item

Handmade ceramic candle holder has a beautiful modern shape and is decorated with a combination of different kinds of glaze. The neck and the body are done in semi-matte traditional brown salt glaze, and a thick band of glossy drip glazes that are layered with different colors peeking out from underneath each other is placed at the shoulder and allowed to flow almost all the way down to the base. Dark chocolate brown and mottled blue glazes are pronounced on top and lower parts of drip glaze band, and dark complex red glaze dominates its central area. Variations in color of drip glazes and the juxtaposition of two different kinds of glazes within the piece create a richness of texture and enhance the shape of the piece. Lower 1/4" and the bottom of the piece are left unglazed, allowing us to see the color of the clay. The candle holder is signed by the artist on the bottom. It measures 13.5" tall with 4.25" diameter base. It is in excellent vintage condition.
