Padlock Clock by Howell James, Boxed

About the Item

Unusual and rare boxed gilded bronze strut clock by the famous makers Howell James and Co. This strut clock is in the form of a padlock. The design was registered and the clock was illustrated in the Official Illustrated Catalogue of the International Exhibition 1862, British Division Vol 1 Class XV, Horological Instruments p65-86. Howell James and Co London. Regration kite mark for 1st February 1861 or it is possible 1-19th September 1857 where the year letter R was also used for that period.
