French, rare Champleve enamel and ormolu mantel clock

About the Item

French antique, rare Champleve enamel and ormolu mantel clock. A very rare model with two good figures of cupids holding up the platform on which the clock face rests and the swags and urn holding musical trophies is held by. Profusely decorated with champlevé enamel in excellent condition, to the base, upper base and under the dial. The champlevé decoration also extends on the clock case over the dial. The dial is gilt bronze and enamel with blued steel hands. The ormolu is entirely original. The movement is of 8 day duration, spring driven, key wound and strikes the hours and halves upon a bell.
