About

A beautifully design late 19th century gilt bronze mounted parcel-gilt and biscuit porcelain mantel (fireplace) clock The front carved with Apollo riding his chariot. The bottom with dancing maidens, the top corners with gilded ram heads, the bottom corners with gilded sphinxes. One side emblematic of the night, with a moon, stars and an owl, the other emblematic of the day with a mask of Apollo, the sun god, a rooster and torches. All surrounded with flowing gilt ribbons and bows, the top with a gilt bronze urn.
