Marble and Bronze Mantle Clock 3 pieces by J. Bondat, circa 1870

About the Item

This fabulous 19th-century Napoleon III white Carrara marble mantel clock set by J. Bondat is a stunning and rare timepiece of French mastery. The three pieces were crafted in France circa 1870. The set is carved with a neoclassic geometric form and intricate acanthus leaves decor. This refined execution is complimented by its superb dial with gilded bronze framing and beveled glass protection. The dial boasts delicate and beautiful enamel detailing with floral motives. The clock has its original movement and will come with its genuine two keys and pendulum. The eight-day mechanism is in fine working condition but might need some servicing upon arrival at your home to ensure the clock keeps the time properly. The central mantelpiece is ornate by its two original carved marble pedestals, used to display statues or vases. Each pedestal is marked on the underside with a hand-written engraved designer's J. Bondat mark. This mantle clock set is a unique piece, made to order, created specially for its 19th-century owner with his exclusive carved monogram on the lower front. This clock set is the perfect addition to any classic interior. Its white Carrara marble and refined execution make it a modern piece of decor. This clock set is heavy and will need a solid fireplace or piece of furniture to be displayed. Dimensions: Clock overall: 16.75 in wide (42.5 cm) x 8.69 in deep (22 cm) x 11.82 in high (30 cm). Each pedestal is 7.07 in wide (18 cm) x 7.07 in deep (18 cm) x 4.32 in high (11 cm).
