Charles X Mother of Pearl and Ormolu Watch Holder and Inkwell

About the Item

Mother of pearl and Ormolu watch holder and inkwell. The center of the piece is decorated with an angel who is standing on a pedestal that rests in a semi-circular niche. The niche is formed with openwork tracery, and its edges are adorned with flowers and leaves with interspaced hooks for holding jewelry. The base of the niche is embellished with two Pharaonic figures. A disk decorated with and openwork lattice tops the piece. Two inkwells with delicately sculpted openwork patterns adorn the sides of the niche while two pen holders stand behind the inkwells. It rests on a rectangular base with mother of pearl plating and four, winged-claw feet, circa 1820. Dimensions: W 5.1 in, D 3.1in, H 7.5in. Dimensions: L 13cm, P 8cm, H 19cm.
