This is a small antique tribal figure. A Polynesian, decorative soapstone statue of two boys in an embrace, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1900. Naive appeal to this small, fascinating piece Displays a desirable aged patina - minimal wear commensurate with age Tactile soapstone with dark green hues and translucent tones Dappled finish to heads and clothing highly distinctive and unusual Hand-inscribed to base with the name Douglas - possibly a missionary on voyage overseas This is an appealing antique tribal figure, with naive charm to the handmade forms and finish. The soapstone feels tactile in the hand, whilst the deep color has lighter translucence towards the edges. Delivered polished and ready to display. Dimensions: Max width 8cm (3.25") Max depth 5cm (2") Max height 10cm (4").
