Millefiori Glass Paperweight Orange Green Blue, Vasart, Scotland c.1960s
About the Item
Vasart millefiori paperweight handcrafted in Scotland.
A highly collectible glass paperweight and wonderful example of Vasart craftsmanship and artistry. This beautiful paperweight was crafted during the 1960s by the famed Vasart in Scotland. The domed paperweight offers a stunning spectacle of millefiori, for which Vasart was renowned for…
The centre of the paperweight is perfectly punctuated with fine millefiori canes, highly detailed and shaped in star-like formations. Surrounding this central display are helical twists of fine slivers of striped glass in red, orange, and white. Decorating the outer edge of the paperweight are larger stems of millefiori in bold tones of green, French navy, and white. The border offers a colourful complimentary and graphic composition, contrasting with the tiny detailed millefiori canes and gossamer fine spiral twists.
It is a wonderful spectacle, with the precise shapes and vibrant colors of the glass seemingly floating in a dome of crystal-clear glass.
