About the Item
A Murano Glass 'Virgo' astrological paperweight by Ferro and Lazzarini
Crafted in the 1980s in Italy, the large glass paperweight was part of a limited release collection of astrology paperweights by the Murano Glass makers Ferro & Lazzarini.
The central decorative element is a gold leaf Virgo figure, finely detailed and set against a black Murano glass backdrop. Surrounding the figure is a double border of red and white millefiori canes, a technique deeply associated with Murano’s glassmaking tradition.
In good condition for its age and use, some minor scratching and surface wear to its exterior. The paperweight comes etched to its base with 'Hand Made in Murano, and dated 1980.
