Three Miniature Decorative Sterling Silver Picture Frames
About the Item
Three Miniature Sterling Silver Picture Frames, 20th century (possibly earlier). These petite and delicate picture frames would make a lovely addition to an elegant nightstand or a traditionally decorated end table with enamel pill boxes and the like. Consisting of three frames, the first an Art Nouveau style frame with a female amidst a delicate bough of flowers, the second a Rococo style frame of rectangular form, and the third a circular frame in the form of a garland of roses. Each frame bears silver marks to the back, the Rococo style frame stamped Sterling, the two others each have British silver hallmarks with 925 marks clearly visible (marks somewhat illegible due to their small size and being somewhat rubbed, though the round frame does clearly show a Lion Passant and maker's marks AN in a shield).
The frames are quite miniature in size, well suited for a custom facial portrait or detail from a vintage photograph. The smallest frame has a picture opening of about 1/2 inch wide and 7/8 inch high, and the largest circular frame has a picture opening of about one inch diameter.
The measurements in the listing are for the largest frame. The Rococo style frame approximately 1 3/4 in. H and 1 in. W, and the Art Nouveau style frame approximately 1 1/2 in. H and 1 1/2 in. W.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Only the largest frame has a glass insert. The two smaller frames do not have glass inserts, and retain old flocked paper backings which are flimsy and stained from use and polishing.
