Glass finish notes: mirrored technique
Handmade objects rarely achieve the exact symmetry of machine-made items, and we are often accustomed to seeing only optically perfect glass in mirrored finishes. The silvering process itself is also done by hand, adding another layer of craftsmanship to the piece. This artisanal technique can naturally highlight subtle variations, such as dust, tool marks, or surface textures, as well as the unique contours of the glass.
These nuances, can become more pronounced once the mirror finish is applied. Additionally, color distribution and density can subtly influence the mirror's appearance. For instance, the top and bottom sections of the glass may not be blown and stretched as evenly as the center, leading to slight variations. In areas with lower color density, the natural tint of the silver mirror finish might be more visible.
