Antique Stafordshire Puff Dog Confetti Figurine Iridescent Finish Porcelain 1860

About the Item

This charming antique Staffordshire porcelain figurine, dating to around 1860, depicts a puff dog—most likely a poodle—crafted with exceptional attention to detail. The figurine features the distinctive "confetti" or "snowflake" decoration, achieved through applied textured white porcelain granules, giving the dog's fur a lifelike, fluffy appearance. The glossy glaze contrasts beautifully with the textured surface, enhancing the sculptural quality of the piece. The dog holds an iridescent, luster-glazed basket in its mouth, showcasing vibrant shades of purple and gold that shimmer under the light, adding a striking focal point. The facial expression is finely painted with delicate black detailing around the nose and mouth, complemented by soulful, hand-painted eyes. Marked with the model number "5887" on the base, this figurine is hollow inside, typical of Staffordshire pottery from the period. It remains in excellent antique condition, with minor wear consistent with age, adding character to this delightful collectible. This Staffordshire puff dog figurine is a wonderful example of Victorian-era craftsmanship, perfect for collectors of antique ceramics or as a decorative accent in traditional and eclectic interiors.
