About the Item
An exceptional example of an Art Deco bronze representation of a mandarin duck, finely chiseled, with dark brown and red-brown patina, with old silver enhancement to the wings and tuft. Hard to find item, designed by Marie Louise Simard, edited by La Stelle. old cast edition.
Signed to the plinth, numbered, artist’s logo, foundry mark.
Very good used condition, with minor signs of time.

Marie Louise Simard
Marie Louise Simard was a French sculptress and painter. She was born in Paris in 1886. She learned the rudiments of sculpture in Monaco with a stone-cutter. Simard exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Independants from 1927. She created several decorative bronzes, nudes, figures dancing, elegant female figures in silvered bronze, enamels and Dinanderie technique. She is also known for watercolor and works on paper. Simard has exhibited at the Edgar Brandt and Danthon Galleries in Paris and also several exhibits in Madrid, Prague and Tokyo.
