Danilo Cervietti Pair of Marble Canova Lions - Second half 20th Century

About the Item

This impressive pair of white marble lions was sculpted by the renowned Italian artist Danilo Cervietti (20th Century). The sculptures are loosely modeled after the style of Antonio Canova (Venetian, 1757-1822), with one lion portrayed sleeping and the other alert. Each sculpture is signed by D. Cervietti on the plinth, confirming its authenticity. Danilo Cervietti established his studio in 1962 in Pietrasanta, Italy, and has since collaborated with influential artists such as Botero, Koons, and Mitoraj. These lions are valuable art objects that add a powerful and classical ambiance to both an interior and a formal garden.
